Carefully follow all instructions

For the safety of you and our staff, if you fail to follow the instructions below, your procedure will be rescheduled. If you have any questions, call our office.

  • Read or watch all instructions to prepare for your procedure.
  • If you are taking Ozempic®, Moujaro®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity®, Victoza® or similar generic medications for diabetes or weight reduction stop these at least 7 days prior to your procedure. This should be done under the direction of your prescribing physician.
  • This is a sedated procedure. A responsible driver must remain in the facility throughout your appointment (~2 hours total). No exceptions.
  • We may call you 1 day before your procedure and adjust your arrival time as we finalize the clinic’s schedule.
  • No children under the age of 16 are allowed at appointments.
  • Watch for a text and email 4 days before your procedure with a link to complete your required online registration.
  • To cancel or reschedule to a different day, please call us at least 48 hours in advance to avoid a $250 cancellation fee.

7 days BEFORE your procedure

  • STOP all proton pump inhibitors (PPI) such as pantoprazole (Protonix®), omeprazole (Prilosec®, Zegerid®), rabeprazole (AcipHex®), or lansoprazole (Prevacid®).

3 days BEFORE your procedure

  • STOP H2 blockers such as ranitidine (Zantac®), cimetidine (Tagamet®), famotidine (Pepcid®, Fluxid®) or nizatidine (Axid®).

24 hours BEFORE your procedure

  • STOP taking over-the-counter antacids of any kind.

The night BEFORE your procedure

  • STOP all solid foods at midnight.
  • You may have clear liquids. Clear liquids include: Water, sports drinks, black coffee, tea, any soda (light or dark), broth, Jell-O, popsicles, and juice without pulp. NOTHING RED OR PURPLE.

Medication

  • DO NOT take acid reducing medications.
  • Do not take diabetic medications.
  • TAKE ALL OTHER PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS AS USUAL.

2 hours BEFORE your procedure

  • NOTHING BY MOUTH FOR 2 HOURS BEFORE YOU ARRIVE! (This includes water, gum and mints. NOTHING by mouth.)

Important Information

Medications:

  • DO NOT skip your medications. Take regularly prescribed medications at least two (2) hours before you arrive. If you have an inhaler, please bring it with you.

Diabetics:

  • IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY TAKING DIABETIC/WEIGHT LOSS MEDICATIONS such as Ozempic®, Mounjaro®, Wegovy®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity® or other semaglutide or GLP-1 receptor agonists, please call the Endoscopy Center immediately. You must discontinue this type of medication for a full 7 days before a sedated procedure.
  • DO NOT take oral diabetic medication or insulin the morning of your procedure. Bring your insulin with you.
  • Test your blood sugar before coming in for your procedure and bring the reading with you.
  • Please contact the physician that manages your diabetic care if you have any questions regarding your oral medication or insulin dosages.

Blood Thinners:

  • If you are taking blood thinners, call your prescribing physician and ask if you may stop taking the medication for the required amount of time prior to your procedure.
  • You may continue taking aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti‐inflammatory medications.

Bring with You:

  • Rescue inhaler for asthma, insulin for diabetics
  • Paper Registration Forms (only needed if you did NOT register online)
  • Photo ID, Insurance Card and any amount owed
  • List of all medications, vitamins and supplements you are taking (include dosage and last date and time each medication was taken before your arrival)
  • Wear a short‐sleeved shirt

  • 7 Días ANTES de Su Procedimiento: PACIENTES QUE ACTUALMENTE TOMAN UN AGONISTA DEL RECEPTOR GLP-1 PARA LA DIABETES O PÉRDIDA DE PESO, como Ozempic®, Semaglutida, Mounjaro®, Wegovy®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity®, Victoza® u otros medicamentos compuestos o genéricos similares, deben ponerse en contacto con su médico para recibir instrucciones sobre cómo suspender el medicamento al menos 7 días antes de su procedimiento. Para su seguridad, su procedimiento será reprogramado si estos medicamentos se toman dentro de los 7 días anteriores a su cita programada.

  • Para CANCELAR o REPROGRAMAR su cita para otro día, llámenos al menos con 48 horas de anticipación para evitar una tarifa de cancelación de $250.
